Equality vs. Equity in Math: How All Students Can Learn Math

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In education, we tend to give all students the same information. We assume they are all at the same level and expect them to learn and progress at the same rate. In reality, students come to school with very different levels of understanding - especially in math. In this session, attendees will discuss and participate in games that create an equity-based system in math so that all students are progressing. Armed with a positive attitude and the belief that all students can progress, we can begin to differentiate math instruction and give students ownership in their learning. Math is not a spectator sport; we have to get in there and play, and in this session, we'll do just that! Note: in addition to free resources, this session may promote materials that are available only by purchase.
