The Audacity of Risk

To encourage healthy risk taking in youth, most programs utilize outdoor activities such as hiking or skateboarding. These activities are highly valuable, but often leave out students who lack interest in such activities and also present risk of physical harm. During this session, we will discuss a tried and true method for students who would rather engage creatively and safely rather than physically: the breaking of social norms. Attendees will be instructed on how to design their own activities, given free, ready-to-use curriculum, and will be asked to break some social norms themselves.
